...with baited breath...

Is that the correct spelling in this context of baited? Not that I know of any other spelling of the word.

I always look forward to checking the blogs - the exhilaration of reading new posts is almost indescribable - (you decide if there is any sarcasm in that sentence).

There are, of course, times when there isn't anything new to read and I go away feeling rather diappointed. But why should I expect people to have posted when the only reason they would have is if they have something important to say.

Me, I don't feel like I've had anything important to say in the last few days so there has been a bit of a lull in my own blog. Have I disappointed those of you who actually bother to check the masterpiece that is 'Why?4'?

Possibly, so this is why this most unimportant and useless post has been added.

eschatology

the horror... the horror

I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like... victory.

What is it about the apocalypse that makes it so interesting? There are so many references to the end of the world in so many different movies, books, songs, poems, letters - basically any format for communication, you'll be able to find something about it.

Even if it's not talking necessarily about the end of the world, as such, it could be the end of someone else's world/life etc.

I don't know what it is, but it sure is cool; as seen in apocalypse now redux which I watched over the weekend.

I can't believe I had never seen it before!

I also can't believe that's Morpheus in it as well!

Peace

?!?

oh yea, and what's up with the random posting times - 2:31am for my last post - whatever

flippin americans

great dialogue...

Must watch it again soon, been far too long.

Let me tell you why you are here.
You are here because you know something.

What you know you can't explain, but you feel it.
You've felt it your entire life, that something's wrong with the world.

You don't know what it is, but it's there like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.

- Morpheus in 'The Matrix'

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here.
It came to me when I tried to classify your species.
I've realized that you are not actually mammals.
Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural
equilibrium with the surrounding environment.
But you humans do not.
You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area.
There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern.
Do you know what it is?
A virus.
Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.
You are a plague.

And we are... the cure.

Coming down

I hate holidays, or breaks or trips or whatever.

They always end.

This one ended by taunting me for its final hours. Little did I know that there was a band playing in Dublin on Sunday night, and if there was one band I still want to see live before I no longer live - it would be this one. Last time I had the opportunity to see them, I was getting married the next day - not really practical

I resigned to the fact that I wouldn't be able to go, and the following morning of course - stupid me - I thought it would be over. But noooo, I walked through Dublin and five different stores were playing four different albums, Black, Garage Inc, Master of Puppets (twice), and And Justice for All. Also, every second bogan I saw had a Metallica t-shirt on, including some guy who was staying in our hostel who sat across from us at the free Irish breakfast- which is just an English breakfast in Ireland.

So yea, not the high point of the trip. But Ireland is awesome. Reminds me of home quite a lot. I have even acquired the taste for Guiness that I suspected I might. The funny thing was, I had a better pint in a pub in Kilkenny than the free pint I got at the top of the Guiness brewery.

But sitting here at work, wishing I was anywhere else is a pretty rude awakening after a wicked trip - a little like coming down - so I'm told.

Dark, Darker, Darko

Without a face has posted a comment saying he'd prefer to watch Donnie Darko on mute and listen to 10,000 Days than watch The DaVinci Code. A suggestion I might just have to do one of these days. Pity I'm going to Ireland tomorrow so it won't be for a week or so.

Speaking of DaVinci code, even though I'm still reading the book, I am so sick of everyone going on about it, including myself. I got the June Baptist magazine on the weekend and what's on the cover of that? You guessed it, in fact you've probably seen it. But yea, the part of the film I enjoyed the most was the conversation between Teabing, Langdon and the girl and so far it's been the worst bit of the book. It seemed to go on forever; fortunately they've just escaped and are about to fly to London. I don't think I'd bother reading the book if you have seen the movie, there is no point because you know everything.

And, until something else fascinating comes up, that will be my last post about DaVinci code.

So yea, will be back next Monday from Ireland, maybe with an acquired taste for guiness. See you then.
